Checklist for opening the canteen
● Turn on the lights:
● Above the bar
● Above the tables
● Entrance area
● Kitchen
● Bottle cooler
● SO, NO FLUORESCENT LIGHTING!
● Turn on the heating to 19°C (if necessary)
● Place milk pods, sugar, and spoons on the bar
● Put beer mats on the bar
● Turn on the radio
● Remove cash from the daily safe and put it in the till drawer
● Set out glasses by the tap (not necessary on Saturdays)
● Turn on the security camera and sponsor screens
● Hang a tea towel and dishcloth by the bar
● If necessary, restock supplies from the drinks storage room and bring them up using the lift
You may have a drink, but limit alcohol consumption while on bar duty!!
Checklist for closing the bar/canteen
● Rinse and dry glasses, then return them to their proper place
● Thoroughly rinse the tap drip tray with hot water and dry it
● Wipe down the bar and all tables with a damp cloth, then dry with a tea towel
● Neatly push in chairs and bar stools
● Empty the dishwasher if possible
● Turn off kitchen appliances and unplug them
● Tidy up and clean the kitchen
● Restock the bottle cabinet (first-in, first-out)
● Take empty containers/crates downstairs
● Hang wet cloths over the crates to dry
● Turn off screens
● Turn off the radio
● Turn off the heating
● Place cash in the daily safe; deposit amounts over €50 into the main safe
● Turn off the lights
● Lock the canteen doors
● Place the canteen key in the lockbox and scramble the combination
